D25 spins but doesn't play
Hi-- I bought a D-25 which spins and then stops spinning using a 6v power supply according to the seller. I thought I could buy it and try it with the proper power cord, a 9V, negative tip. I am actually having a hard time finding the right power supply for this, but now I'm wondering if you might know if the power supply might even be the problem. Do you think this power supply might work for it? Thank you so much!https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Sony-Discman-Parts-Repair-and-power-adapter-sorta-works-read-description/323843145281

Someone more knowledgeable can chime in but looking on Google, it would appear the adaptor in the Ebay listing would be suitable for the D-25 (negative center).
Not sure if upping to the rated input voltage of 9V would solve your issue, but all of the D-25s I've picked up as broken suffer a seized optical pickup on its worm gear. Some have seized gear(s) between the pick-up motor to the wormgear drive gear.Add some lubricant / lithium grease to free the mechanism up.And chances are, if you replace all of the old electrolytic caps on the PCB, most of your problems can be solved.:)
Regardless, do pick up the 9V adaptor anyways. Oh thank you @Timing.Fanatic . I will have to try that and see what happens! The original power adapter for SONG D15/25 is AC930 or AC940. See which one is cheaper. Yes, center negative of the power plug.
