my Sony D-777 Discman won't power on
Hi there, Managed to find this lovely forum through the repair thread on Head-Fi.I've got a mint condition D-777 that i've had for many years, been keeping it in my dry box when not in use. It's been working fine all these years
Recently I decided to fire it up again, but the red light at the Play button only turns on for like 2-5 seconds, before going off again. The CD spins for a while then stops when the red light goes off.
The unit is still very silent, there's no sound made other than the spinning of the disc.
I'm using the AA battery extender as I don't have gum stick batteries right now. I also tried with my 4.5V adaptor, and the same thing happens. Red light turns on for 2-5 seconds, before the turning off.
What do you guys think might be the problem?
Can anyone offer any words of advice? try cleaning laser lens first...
maybe sled gears got frozen? that would be the easiest fix...
The laser head fails to read the disc.
1: Clean the lens
2: change to another disc, pls use commercial disc
3: Consider repair.
