Sony D-777 sound issue

Edited by windball at 2015-11-03 21:55

Happly to see new forum set up by Kaosun for vintage CD palyer lovers.

Just got a Sony D-777 from friend.
After power on spindle rotates and reading disc without problem.
However the sound will come out only after 20-30 seconds for first song to play.
Sound level is weak and broken when start, become better after few minutes.

If choose to forwafrd or backward to other track, it takes 3-10 seconds for the sound come out.

Is it possible caused by some aged compoments? any advise?

Also notice that the ESP always show on the remote control screen even if I turn it off at the back of player.
Is it normal?

Thanks.

Well, I encountered this issue might be your reference.
Open the battery chamber, remove the sticker then thoroughly clean the PCB underneath the sticker. Then test the d777. The issue is caused by sticker whose electricity leakage triggers MUTE circuit. The sticker can still be used again but you need place a new layer of double-sided tape to fix it.

Clean the whole pcb especially the area underneath battery chamber. Now it works fantastic.
