Hello,

I have a D-100 which over speeds on startup and then turns off. Actually I have two D-100s with the same problem?
It is not registration as I have checked those.
Any thoughts? Is the IC505 to be replaced? How to check?

Regards,

Over speed on startup is normal. It always means no disc is detected. Please perform standard inspection:
1: Hold door switch,
2: Press play;
3: Laser lens focus up and down for 3 times;
4: Red laser beam emits.

Ordinary, focusing coil breaks or laser issue.

Thanks for the reply.
The laser works. The lens goes up and down several times and it emits red light.
I even changed the pickup with one I know it works, and still the same symptoms.

I made some measurements and I get 5.5v on IC505 pin 14 instead of 1.2v max, and 0.6v on IC503 pin 7 instead of 2v.

Pls check the DC-DC power adapter part, does it output +5V and -5V? You can trace them by referring SM.
