Here's another fun one - I was listening to my D-321 for about 20 minutes when all of a sudden the player emits sounds like the laser can't track.  I turn off ESP and it plays for a few minutes.  Then its health declines and eventually it won't recognize the CD completely.  So I open the lid and remove the CD to see what the laser is doing.  Upon hitting play, there is laser emission, but the lense no longer moves up and down.  Feels like focus search is broken which means my focus servo isn't working.

Before I begin the trouble of recapping the whole board, is this a capacitor issue?  Or something else?  Thanks!

Edit: I also have a spare KSS-331C optical block and motors, and both KSS-331s behave the same.

I am having exactly the same issue. The focus coil stopped working from one day to the next. I checked if the lens was blocked in some way, but it can move freely. The lens does move a little bit downwards, but certainly way less than it should. Any idea where the issue could be? I already replaced all electrolytic capacitors and checked for potential damages in the traces, but found nothing. Any help is deeply appreciated since I really like the D321.
