Hi Kaosun Master,
I have a SL-XP5, it can read TOC of CDR, but it won’t play the track in horizon. If it is hold on vertical, it can play it week. I tried to open the motor (it is brushless) and add in some oil into it, but it seen not getting better. Do you have any advise? Thanks.

4 lens steel strings are aging. You can take out the laser and place it upside down, face the lens toward ground. Using a soldering iron to de-solder the 4 solder points one by one. Therefore, the lens will be lift a little bit. During de-soldering, do not touch the lens.

It has nothing wrong with your spindle motor. You'll take out of the laser assembly, better remove the laser cover and finish the trim of the 4 strings. The laser is easy to be disassembled so it's not too difficult to repair.

It might be normal because the power adapter outputs non-regulated voltage to the player. The player generates heat during regulating the voltages.
