FOR SALE: SONY D-88 DISCMAN mini cd player with original accessories
PRICE: $500 shipped to lower 48 states
PHOTOS and VIDEO in Facebook link: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02PNfBohyYA5y9pVYK3LPUHpGLgsrnqu4rxNPxXJT9wP2ew6Eso1Nya9svd4jvELfxl&id=100015671550047&sfnsn=mo&mibextid=QTQfit

For sale is an excellent cosmetic condition, no dent, no scratch Sony D-88 DISCMAN mini cd player from late 80s. Highly COLLECTIBLE and sought after.

It comes with a revived original BP-2 battery which shows correct voltage (see photo), original Sony 9v power supply (still produces good voltage output) with a 220v adapter, original owners manual, and original leather case (zipper is working, the leather surface is oxidized and can be polished).

Please see the photos and a video in the Facebook link. It actually looks better than the compressed photos.

Item condition descriptions: The laser middle gear has been recently replaced and lubricated with white lithium grease. It spins freely. There are two minor issues: (1) LCD display is diminished. Some tiny light blur can still be seen. Maybe LCD carbon flex cable or deteriorated capacitor? (2) Start up issue: when pressing the play button, CD starts to spin with some grinding sound. Then, it speeds up smoothly a few times like it's going up to a normal play speed (no grinding sound), then afterwards it slows down with the same grinding sound then comes to a stop. The whole scenario can be repeated with either battery or power supply (see video in the Facebook link). My guess is a minor mechanical issue (something needs to be lubricated) or deteriorated capacitor.
NOTE: KaosunCD quoted the repair charge:
$160 for standard repair, if it's merely PCB issue;
or
$160 + $60 if it's laser issue.

I want to sell AS IS for $500 (firm) shipped to lower 48 states to a SONY D-88 DISCMAN enthusiast. Whether you may fix it yourself or with an additional repair cost $160 (+$60), you would have a perfect working condition collectible Sony D-88 DISCMAN mini cd player with original accessories and owners manual. Please check compatible listings on eBay asking for ~$1400 with less accessories as of 10/04/2022.
