It might be something wrong with your CD player. But test it by your new power adapter and let me know.

I asked this question on Head-fi in DIY thread. But I just got a D-303. I bought a universal power supply and it was working fine yesterday through the power supply. Now today, there is clear distortion when I use the power supply. It sounds like a capacitor is blown on the AC power line. I'm wondering if you agree with this assessment or not? Mind you the player works flawlessly on battery.

If battery powers it well, the player should be basically fine. I'm not sure what the quality of the power supply is but I suggest to buy one AC-94N power adapter online to test it. If you confirm the player's issue, you can contact me later.
